Will my insurance pay for acupuncture?
After nearly 10 years working with insurance both in CA and NY, here is what I can
guarantee: Most patients do not understand the complexities of insurance billing.
At the clinic, even if you have coverage for acupuncture, we must verify insurance
with our billing staff and your carrier directly. Regardless of coverage you think
you have, patients must pay their first visit in full and we will verify your
coverage.
Insurance billing is a service that we provide, but we are not obligated to do so.
Also, our fee schedule is different for PPO versus cash patients. As a rule of
thumb, our cash fees are cheaper due to the high cost and long wait periods
associated with insurance reimbursement. If you choose to have us do your billing
your co-pay will be higher and based on our PPO fee schedule.
We can provide you with a superbill to submit if you want to receive a higher
reimbursement. If at any time your provider delays in payment, your bill become
due and payable in full. You are liable for your deductible and uncovered charges
by your PPO.
For patients with no coverage for treatment, we also offer a senior discount, and
have a discounted fee schedule for those on a limited income. Verification of
income is needed to qualify.
